Built by the dwarven clans after the Maulfang War, Eregrym’s purpose was twofold: to serve as the new capital city of the Eastern Province and as the home of the Maulbane family.
In their eagerness to welcome the other guardian families of Eilora, the dwarves undertook the unimaginable. They built their dwarven stronghold above ground. Thus the buildings and streets in Eregrym are unlike those found anywhere else. The walls of buildings are made of stone blocks no less than ten feet thick, and many seem to have been coaxed up from the very ground below. The streets, though above ground, have numerous archways and long, covered tunnels that connect the buildings. Were it not for the open sky above, a traveler might actually think he was underground while walking through the city.
The dwarves here welcome outsiders and trade freely with merchants from the other provinces. Many people from other races have also made permanent homes within Eregrym’s walls.
